A Creative Nonfiction Essay narrating my first pride experience in 2019. It was World Pride 50 in New York City, marking the 50th Anniversary of the 1969 Stonewall Riots with even more people and festivities than usual. The essay’s subtitle, “parents, prejudice, and the son in the subway,” aims to shed light on the underbelly of pride events and the hereditary nature of fear and intolerance.
